By the time she was eight years old the Viennese child Margarete Babinsky had declared to anyone who would listen, and to plenty who wouldn't: "I want to be a pianist," and coming straight to the point as always, she immediately turned the plan into reality. After only one year of piano tuition she was then able to attend the class for especially talented children at the Vienna Academy of Music. She had lessons with such masters as Michael Krist (Vienna), Karl-Heinz Kämmerling (Salzburg) and Rudolf Kehrer (Moscow).

In the following years Margarete Babinsky developed toone of the most exciting pianists of the younger generation. Long before she had achieved her concert diploma, she had already understood what was really important in music. "Technique is the tool to be used to awaken life in the music, and one can only achieve optimum results with a perfect tool. But in the end, it is all to do with the musical expression of a work, the interpreter should never believe himself or herself to be more cleverer than the composer."

Irrespective of whether in Europe, Asia, Africa or South America, the public and critics are enthused by Margarete Babinsky's charismatic radiance and her naturalness. The Viennese pianist has made music with such orchestrasas the Vienna Symphony, the Budapest Symphony, the Vienna Chamber Orchestra and Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg, the BBC Welsh Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestre d'Auvergne, the Bohuslav Martinu Philharmonic, the RSO Berlin, the SWDKO Pforzheim and many others more. Her most distinguished partners at the conductor's rostrum to date have been Lord Yehudi Menuhin and Vladimir Fedosejev.

She was awarded the "Vienna Flötenuhr" by the Vienna Mozart Society for her first CD recording of Mozart piano works, this is a distinction previously awarded to such artistic personalities as Andras Schiff, Bo Skovus, the Artis Quartet, Thomas Zehetmair and the Alban Berg Quartet. Since then Margarete Babinsky presented a large number of CD-recordings, which were all highly acclaimed by public and critics because of her unique and original interpretations.

Despite, or perhaps due to her successes as a soloist, Mararete Babinsky is also much in demand as a chamber music partner. Artists such as Professor Werner Hink, Karin Adam, Luz Leskowitz, Christoph Stradner and Wolfgang Panhofer regularly make music with the Viennese pianist.

The solo repertoire of Margarete Babinsky ranges from the Baroque into the 20th century. The artist's especial preference is the interpretation of the works of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Franz Schubert. She is also an enthusiastic explorer of unknown repertoire especially of the 20th century and loves to present this literature to people in concerts or on CD-recordings.
